One day I woke up, and joked “what if Wooper were a tellytubby”

Seven months, 3 corrupt backups, a few skipped dinners, and many tears later, we have Pokémon Ephemerald.

Pokemon Emerald like you’ve never seen it before

Enjoy the Hoenn region with a unique twist. Pokemon Ephemerald is a full Regional-Forme ROM Hack, where you can find 382* brand new Saphosian Formes (sa-pho-sian) from the minds of passionate creators. Every single catchable ‘mon has a whole new design, with new Types, Movepools, Abilities, and Flavour to create a unique experience like this game came straight from a parallel universe with a Succubus Jynx, a Butterfly Gligar, a Toxic-waste Quilava and many many more!

The whole rainbow of possibilities

In Ephemerald, every Pokémon has a new combination of types, and you’ll find every possible type pairing represented. For example, you can discover Pokémon like Caterpie with the Rock/Normal type combo or Slowpoke with Poison/Ground.

What’s special is that each dual-type combination is unique, giving each Pokémon a specific role based on its types. If you prefer single-type Pokémon, you have plenty of options too.

The game also makes it possible to evolve Pokémon that usually require trading, and you’ll encounter new legendary Pokémon in different places. This adds excitement and lets you complete your National Dex with Pokémon you’ve never seen before in the Gen 3 world, making your adventure quite unique.

Optional bosses with true rewards.

In Ephemerald, a modern ROM, the traditional EV training system is absent, and opponent Pokémon won’t grant you any Effort Values. However, as you journey through the game, you’ll come across optional Boss-fights. These encounters reward you with EV Boosting items. These bosses are spaced out between each gym, and they will battle you until you defeat the next major Gym Leader.

These optional battles serve as a valuable resource for a more casual playthrough, granting you a permanent advantage for the remainder of your adventure. However, for hardcore players, it poses a challenging decision. Is it worth the risk of putting your valuable team members on the line before facing trainers who spare no effort in providing a formidable challenge? This choice adds an extra layer of strategy and decision-making to your journey in Ephemerald.

Frigid Frost, Toxic Chemicals, and Flimsy Metals.

In the revamped Hoenn region, we’re shaking things up a bit when it comes to Pokémon types. Ice-Types have become sturdier, now with resistance against Water and Ground moves. Poison types have turned even more venomous and can now deal extra damage to Dragon types. However, Steel-Types have lost some of their strength, as they no longer resist Dark, Ghost, and Psychic moves. So, your favorite Pokémon becoming an Ice/Poison type may not be as overpowering as it initially appears. These type changes bring a fresh dynamic to the battles in the Hoenn region.
