Story

The game begins with a legend about the four Pokégods that were sealed in legendary balls long ago. Now, centuries later, these legendary creatures have been discovered in the Beaulés region, to the west of Magore. Eseal, who is the successor to the Se Corp empire, seeks to control the Pokégods and become unstoppable. However, your journey is just beginning. Following in your sister’s footsteps, you aim to become a Pokémon master and, with significant events unfolding, perhaps even save the world.

After reading this legend, you meet Professor Oak, a Pokémon researcher. He asks for your name and your rival’s name. You start your adventure in your house, where you find a vital potion in your PC that can restore your Pokémon’s HP by 20 if they’re injured. When you step outside and head toward the route ahead, Professor Oak stops you, warning about the dangers of tall grass without a Pokémon to protect you. He then takes you to his lab, where your rival eagerly awaits. Both of you are offered a rare, one-of-a-kind Pokémon, and you can choose from three starter Pokémon.

  • Magid – A Grass- and Electric-type Pokémon. It knows two moves: Tackle and Leech Seed. Recommended for players new to the series.
  • Flaon – A Fire-type Pokémon. It knows two moves: Scratch and Growl. Recommended for experienced players.
  • Bliqu – A Water-type Pokémon. It knows two moves: Tackle and Charm. Recommended for intermidiate-level players.

After selecting your starter Pokémon, you’ll engage in a battle with your rival. Your rival will always choose a Pokémon with a type advantage over yours. For instance, if you chose Magid, your rival will pick Flaon. If you selected Flaon, your rival will choose Bliqu, and if you started with Bliqu, your rival will go for Magid. Using the provided Potion during this battle is recommended.

Following the battle, Professor Oak permits both new Trainers to begin their journey across Beaulés. In Viridian City’s Poké Mart, you’ll find a package that needs to be delivered to the professor. After completing this task, Professor Oak rewards you and your rival with Pokédexes and sends you on your way. Although there’s a Gym in Viridian City, it is currently locked.

Your journey continues as you traverse the Viridian Forest, defeat Gym Leaders like Brock in Pewter City, Misty in Cerulean City, Lt. Surge in Vermillion City, Erika in Celadon City, Koga in Fuchsia City, Sabrina in Saffron City, Blaine in Cinnabar Island, and Giovanni in Viridian City. Following these Gym battles, you’ll face the Elite Four before challenging your rival to a final showdown.
